Grade 4 & 5 Social Studies Fossil Find

The grades 4 & 5 classes are showing their interest in Alberta's past. After learning about fossils found in our area, students participated in a mock dinosaur egg dig.  The eggs were first excavated, then "dinosaur fossils" were carefully removed from the egg while trying to preserve as much of the imprint as possible.

Finally students recorded their findings and thoughts about the dig.

Connecting Across Canada

The Grades 3, 4, & 5 Social Studies Classes learned a lot about Canada through a Postcard Pal Exchange.  This bulletin board shows the many locations all around Canada from which postcards were sent to us.

Here is our postcard that we sent to our Canadian Postcard Pals.

Scaredy Cats by the Grade 4s & 5s

Using a wet on wet water colour painting technique, students painted cat shapes and later added the detailed feline features.

A "SWEET" Valentine's Day

We certainly had a sweet day on February 14th.  Students began by creating "Bee Mine" Valentines bags and then we proceeded to  fill the bags with an assortment of sweets, treats, and Valentines.
